Cora Leen Smart, 58, passed away on Saturday, October 15th, in Alexandria, Virginia.
She was born on January 15, 1958 in Providence to Algie William Mitchell and the late Algie Mae (Cannady) Mitchell.
Cora attended the Providence Schools and graduated from Central High School. She traveled and sang with her family singing group Billy Mitchell and the Morning Stars. She enlisted in the Army in 1976 and served honorably for fifteen years. She graduated from Central Texas School of Cosmetology. Cora then followed her dream and she opened her own business, MCW (Mature Christian Woman) Salon. Cora was currently a successful leasing consultant with UDR, a property management company.
She was a dedicated and a faithful member of the Temple of Praise Church and a member of the Temple of Praise Mass Choir located in Washington, D.C. under the leadership of Bishop Glen A. Staples.
Cora leaves behind her ex-husband and friend Mr. Kannie Smart Jr., her daughters, Ms. Liana Smart, and Ms. Kimberly Jenkins, all of Killeen, TX. Her father, Bishop Algie William Mitchell of Providence, two sisters, Sheila L. Hepburn of Cranston and Suzie M. Clinton of Alexandria, VA, two brothers, William T. Mitchell and Calvin K. Mitchell, both of Providence; also, two grandsons, Thomas Gregory Houser Jr. and Markus Justin Jenkins Jr., both of Killeen, TX.
Cora was the sister of the late Warren D. Mitchell.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and many friends will miss Cora dearly.
