Darell Dowdy

Darell Dowdy, 27, of 289 Oxford Street, Providence RI, died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his home.

Darell was born in Boston at Brigham and Women's Hospital on January 23, 1989. Darelle was the son of Robert Knight, and Melissa Dowdy, the step-son of Keon Mercer, and Aaron Stokes. 

Darell became a member of New Jerusalem/ Life Changers Church in 2015. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and despite the struggles he faced Darell continued to go to the altar every time he was able to attend service

Darell grew up in New Bedford, MA. Then moved back to Boston in his teens. He was a cancer survivor for 12 years. While living in Boston he was given the nickname Kidd Block. Darell moved to Providence RI in 2007 where he found his love for music. He was a million dollar act. He always had a big smile and loved to make people laugh. He loved to eat, even though he was skinny. He had a beautiful bond with his Grandma Jackie. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, brothers Tyson Dowdy, Gee, Aj, and Little Tyson, sisters Dejaha Dowdy, and Tonajaha Almedia. Grandmothers Jackie Dowdy, Vonnie Mercer, Gwendolyn Stokes and Martha Knight, Nephews Tey'vian, and Trevon, Niece Aaliyah, Aunts Brenda, Cleo and Linda Dowdy, Uncle Steven Tucker, cousin Denayah Payne and a host of cousins, and family members in addition to his girlfriend Chanel Brown, He was the cousin to the late D'Andre Bonds.
