Gail Marie Durrett

Gail Marie Durrett, of Charles Street, Providence, died Saturday, June 3rd, at Miriam Hospital.

Born in Providence, Gail was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse Durrett Sr. and well-known community activist Ruth (Pettis) Durrett. Gail lived her entire life in Providence raising four children who survive her. She loved her children dearly.

She is survived by sons, Thomas Durrett and David Durrett, both of Providence, daughters, Elizabeth Durrett and Ebony Durrett, both of Providence, brothers, Darryl Durrett and David Durrett, both of Providence, and Michael Durrett of East Providence, and 9 grandchildren that she also loved very much. Gail was the sister of the late Jesse "Precious" Durrett Jr., Jeremiah Durrett, and Deborah Durrett and partner of the late William Lemon.

Gail was a natural storyteller who was able to recount good and bad situations with great humor. She loved to tell a good story to anyone who would listen. She will greatly be missed by her many family and friends who loved her.
