Jerry Wheeler Smith, of Burnside Street, Providence, died, Sunday, March 19th, in the comfort of his own home. He the husband of Effie B. (McDade) Smith who loved his so much.
Born in Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late William Smith and Lillian (Lewis) Smith, and the stepson of Thirsford Lewis.
Jerry was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He then worked at Carol Cable Company until retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Kenny Ashley, Lawrence Hamrick, Joseph Hamrick, Richard Smith, Tod Smith, and Jerry McDade, daughters, Betty Jean Gleaves, Geraldine Smith, Lori Smith, Tina Marie Smith, Angelique Smith-Branch, stepson, Emilio Rivera, step daughters, Juanita Winfield and Samantha McDade, and a host of grandchildren and great, grandchildren. He was the father of the late Bobby Kilgore, Jerry Smith, and Rosemary Smith.
