Deacon Joel Momo Cassell Sr., 83, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, of Lowell Avenue, Providence, died July 27th, at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of Rhode Island.
Deacon Cassell was born on November 18, 1933 to the union of the late Isabella and Thomas Cassell in the city of Brewerville, Montserrado County, Liberia.
He worked for Liberia Public Utility Authority later known as Liberia Telecommunications Corporation for many years and retired in 1987, as a dedicated civil servant. He also served as a council member of Brewerville City.
Deacon Cassell gave his life and lived for the Lord from 1943, up to his passing. He served as chairman of the Deacon Board of Zion Grove Baptist Church in Brewerville, Liberia where he was Baptized and made a Deacon, and was a current Deacon at the Westside Tabernacle Baptist Church in Providence, until his passing.
Deacon Cassell leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Deaconess Rebecca H. Cassell; seven children: Joel M. Cassell Jr., Sardia Cassell Scott, Zoe Cassell, Lynda Cassell Williams, Thomas Cassell, Stanford Cassell and Lawrence Cassell; four brothers: Shedrick Cassell, Rufus Cassell, Benjamin Cassell and David Tweh; fifteen grandchildren: Michael, Gloria, Joelle, Eli, Rebecca, Sardia, Joel III, Leona, Amber, Phoebe, Steven, Prince, Chris, Jenkins and Jessica; four great-grandchildren: Genesis, Michael Jr, Tristan, and Cassie; eight nieces and nephews: Albert Cassell, Isabella Cassell Johnson, Marie Cassell Smith, David Cassell, Napoleon Cassell, Genevie Cassell , Evelyn Cassell Kamara, and Mack Cassell; cousins: Joe Barker, Sam Barker; his daughter in-law Jestina Payne and a host of relatives and friends.
