John “Bud” Henry Mitchell Sr., 91, of Providence, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Charlesgate Nursing home. He was the husband of the late Hazel (McCrimmons) Mitchell.

Born in Miami, Florida, he was the son of the late Charles Mitchell Sr. and Carrie Whitley and the step-son of Aldosha Whitley.

He was the father of Larry Mitchell (RI), Johnnie Henry Mitchell (MA), Cynthia Hall Hernandez (PA), Jacqueline Jenkins (RI) and step-father of Alice Faye Mickey (TX). He was the father of the late Melvin Dean Mitchell, John Henry Mitchell Jr., Julia Belinda Mitchell and the grandfather of the late Laila McCullough and Melanie Hall. He was the brother of Charles Mitchell (deceased), Theodis Boatwright (deceased), Juanita Campbell, Ransom Whitley (deceased), Aldosha Whitley (deceased), Shirley LeCount, Marvin Whitley, Melvin Whitley, Carmetha W. Pough, Margaret Edwards (deceased), Barbara Jackson and Charles Roosevelt Mitchell.

He is also survived by his sons-in-law Emanuel Jenkins Sr. (RI) and Martin Hernandez (PA), his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, a host of other relatives and spiritual brothers and sisters.
