Joseph L. Johnson

Joseph L. Johnson Jr. "Pooch", born in Providence on March 28, 1972 to the late Joseph L. Johnson Sr. and Margaret E. (Baker) Johnson, died unexpectedly at Rhode Island Hospital on Wednesday, September 14th.

Joseph leaves to mourn three children, one son, Darius T. Lopez, two daughters, Nomari D. Waite & Jodea N. Waite, and one grandson, Lesean A. Lopez, all of Jacksonville, FL.  Joseph also leaves a beloved girlfriend, Tammi-Lynn Gundy of Providence, and his brother, Timothy W. Johnson (Kelli) of West Warwick.  Joseph leaves two nieces, Chanelle Johnson-Gomes of Providence and Jennifer Johnson of Warwick. He leaves two great nieces, Jurney Bell & Dalyss Lyons, and one great nephew, Darrell Lyons Jr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa D. Johnson.

Joseph was a high school graduate and had been employed as a Machine Operator for Falvey Linen in Cranston. He was as a protector, a die-hard Steelers fan who had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and tell jokes. In addition, Joseph was affectionately known as “Junior” to many close family and friends.

He leaves a host of family and friends and will be greatly missed. He is at peace with his Dad, Mom, Sister and other loved ones.
