Josie (Padgett) Ellison

Josie Ellison was born June 7, 1927 to Odell and Ethel (London) Padgett, in Cleveland County, Shelby, NC.

She attended Cleveland Vocational School in Shelby, NC, later Morgan School of Cosmetology in Charlotte, NC.

Josie moved to Providence in 1956 after the death of her husband, Robert Dixon. She was married to him for 11 years.

After living in Providence for 8 years, she moved to East Providence.

Josie graduated from Zion Bible Institute and did some studies at Johnson and Wales.

In 1968 she was married to James T. Ellison until his death in January 2000.

In 1995 Josie became church organist at the East Providence Church of God, where she remained until that church closed.

She joined South Attleboro Assembly of God and remained there until her death on Tuesday, October 3rd.

She is survived by brother, Dell G. Padgett of Providence, and sister, Judy Padgett of New Orleans, LA.  She was the sister of the late Sarah Etchison and Mary Padgett-Pippin.
