Robert Monteiro

Robert “Skyman” Monteiro, 77, of East Providence, died on August 19th at home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on June 5, 1940 in Providence. He was the son of the late Anthony and Edith Monteiro.  Bobby and Phyllis were together for 45 years and married 26 years. He has five daughters, Lorraine Monteiro of Buffalo, NY, Christine Monteiro of Raleigh, NC, Sonya Smith of East Providence, Wendy Smith and Jeanette Monteiro, both of Providence,; three sons, Robert Smith, Jason Monteiro and Jeffrey Edmond, all of Providence; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Evard Monteiro of East Providence, Anthony Monteiro of Providence, Pauline Jones of Providence, Hazel Jones of North Providence, Theresa Brown of Providence and Antoinette Price of Atlanta, GA; preceded in death by sister, Ethel Khan and a host of nieces and nephews.

He loved Motown music, dress to impress, love to dance, very well-liked in the community and if he knew your number you would get called all times of the night. He worked as an elevator operator for the Biltmore Hotel in Providence.

He will be dearly missed, but is resting in the arms of his heavenly father.
