Benjamin Franklin Barbour, 60, of Indiana Avenue, Providence, died Tuesday, August 10 th , at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. He was the husband of Lola Barbara (Jeffreys) Barbour.
Born in Franklin County, NC, he was the son of the late William Lorenzo Barbour Sr. and Sadie (Harris) Barbour. He was a resident of the city for 31 years.
Benjamin was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Brenton Barbour and Christopher Barbour, both of Providence, daughters, Victoria Barbour and Benita Barbour, both of Providence, brother, James Barbour (Lena) of Raleigh, NC, sisters, Verdie Barbour, Hattie May Williams (James), Lucille Clemons (Rev. McAuthor), all of Raleigh, NC, and Eloise Smith of Providence, 10 grandchildren and 2 great, grandchildren. He was the brother of the late William Barbour Jr., Joseph Barbour, Mary Barbour, Elizabeth Jenkins, and Edith Allen. Funeral 10am Friday, August 13 th , in Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence; Viewing begins at 9am. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
Repast will be held 3-6pm Friday at The American Legion Lts. Armstrong-Gladding Post #69, 2 Salem Street, Providence (Corner of Salem Street and Potters Avenue).
