Meek Weldon Brown , 70, of Warwick Avenue, Warwick , died Saturday, October 9 th, at Elmhurst Extended Care. He was the husband of Mary Theresa (Hodge) Brown. Born in York, SC, he was the son of the late Wilbert Brown and Leola (Meek) Brown. He was a resident of the city for 7 years. He was a welder for General Dynamics/Electric Boat in Groton, CT. He also was appointed Pastor of Mount Zion Church of God in 1984 until retirement. Besides his wife, he is survived by daughter, Shurla White of Warwick, brothers, John Brown and Daniel Brown, both of Providence, sisters, Ellen Neely of Providence and Natyalum Bratton of York, SC, grandsons, Lowell "DJ Franchise" White and Joshua "NYCE" White, both of Warwick, and mother-in-law, Edith (Hodge) Monteiro of Providence . He was the brother of the late Calvin Brown, David Brown, James Brown, Lilly Mae Gill, and Margaret Brice. Funeral 10am Saturday, October 16 th , at Mount Zion Church of God, 375 Cahill Street, Providence. Interment in North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Providence. Calling Hours Friday 6-9pm ; also in church.
