Violet Marie (Hazard) (Mitchell) Bryant, born December 11, 1936 in Pawcatuck, CT, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
She was the wife of Alex Bryant (late Edmund L. Mitchell) and daughter of the late Lewis R. Hazard Sr. and Gladys M. (Sebastian) Hazard. Mrs. Bryant graduated class of 1955 at Stonington High School. She relocated to Providence in 1959.
She was a certified youth bowling coach at Lang's Bowlerama for 8 years. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she sang on the Chancel Choir and the Ebenezer Greater Ensemble. She was also a member of the Greater Providence Community Chorale.
Mrs. Bryant was an elder of the Eastern Pequot Indians of CT.
She is survived by sons, Donald L. Hazard of Providence and Darren F. Mitchell of Norwich, CT, daughter, Denese Marseille of East Providence, brothers, Vernon Hazard of North Kingston, Vincent Hazard of Stockton, CA, Everett Hazard of San Jose, CA, and Richard Hazard of West Greenwich, sister, Virginia Doubler of Virginia Beach, VA, 14 grandchildren and 13 great, grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Lewis R. Hazard Jr. and Elaine A. Hazard.
Viewing 10am and Funeral 11am, both Monday, August 3rd, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 475 Cranston Street, Providence. Cremation will follow.
