Ernesteen "Sal" (Branch) Clifton, 75, of Gladstone Street, Providence, died Monday, October 26th, at home. She was the wife of Joe E. Clifton.

Born in Louisburg, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ned Branch and Mattie Lou (Edgerton) Branch. She was a resident of the city for 47 years.

Ernesteen worked as a housekeeper at the Rhode Island Medical Center until retirement in 1991.

Besides her husband, she is survived by sons, Frank J. Clifton of Raleigh, NC, Donald R. Clifton of Pawtucket and Ronnie M. Clifton of Providence, daughters, Elaine Clifton of Providence and Louann Bradley of Cranston, brother, Frank Branch of Springfield, MA, sisters, Ann Lou Davis of Norfolk, VA and Maxine Gill of Louisburg, NC, 16 grandchildren and 8 great, grandchildren.

Funeral 11am Friday, October 30th, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 475 Cranston Street, Providence; viewing begins at 10am. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
