Timothy J. Cogell, 87, of Warrington Street, died Friday, February 27th, at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Valerie Stevos Hopes-Cogell.
Born in Providence, the son of Alfred and Allinesse (Venter) Cogell.
Timothy was an U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was at Pearl Harbor on the USS MacDonough when it was attacked December 6, 1941. He worked at Quonset Point, RI and the Norfolk Navy Yard, VA as a jet engine mechanic for 30 years; he retired at age 55. He was also a mason of Norfolk, VA.
Besides his wife, he is survived by son, Norris Cogell, stepsons, John Hopes, Alan Hopes, Michael Hopes and Elliot Hopes, step-daughters, Andria Kane, Cynthia Waddington, Maria Smith and Sheila R. Hopes, 16 grandchildren, 1 great, grandchild, 1 nephew & 1 niece. He was the husband of the late Mary (Elam) Cogell and brother of the late Adele L. Green.
Funeral 12 Noon Monday, March 2nd, in Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence; viewing begins at 11am. Burial, with military honors, will be at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
