Rhenae Hortense (McQueen) Ellis , 74, of 280 Washington Street, Providence, died Monday, December 28th, at home.

Born in Cumberland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Treaver McQueen. She was a resident of the city for 50 years. She was a member of New Life Community Church and a member of the Eastern Stars - Mahalia Jackson #2.

Rhenae is survived by sons, James W. Ellis Jr. and Nelson Chalmers, both of Providence, and Chester Douglas of Sanford, NC, daughters, Rheta Ellis, Barbara Harris and Dianette Ellis, all of Providence, and Annette McNair of Sanford, NC, 16 grandchildren and 17 great, grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Lewis Smith and Cynthia Hines.

Funeral 12 Noon Monday, January 4th , in Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence; viewing will begin at 11am. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Providence.
