James Clarence Lassiter, 85, a retired longshoreman, of 100 Broad Street, Providence, died Thursday, April 16th, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nancy Marie (McWilliams) Lassiter. Born in Wendell, NC, the son of the late Anna Lassiter. He was a resident of the city for 53 years. James was a World War II veteran. He is survived by sons, Timothy Lassiter, Marvin Lassiter and Fredrick Lassiter, all of Providence, daughters, Jannette Lassiter, Nancy D. Lassiter and Denise Perkins, all of Providence, brother, William Perry of Providence, sister, Bernice Meredith of Wendell, NC, 33 grandchildren and 66 great, grandchildren. He was the father of the Jasper Lassiter, James Lassiter, David Lassiter, Dennis Lassiter and Juanita Lassiter. He was the brother of the late Wesley Meredith and Barbara Carpenter. Funeral 11am Thursday, April 23rd, in Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence; viewing begins at 10am.
