Sarah Ann (Pope) McBride, 78, of Cahir Street, Providence, died Friday, November 14th, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the former wife of Prentiss McBride of Providence.
Born in Shelby, NC, the daughter of the late Robert Gill and Mary Lou Pope. She was raised by the beloved Delia Wilson. She was a resident of the city for 60 years.
Sarah was employed 40 years as an attendant at the Rhode Island Medical Center. She also served as a receptionist at St. Michael's Rectory, was a foster grand parent and volunteered at the Providence Public Library. She was a music lover, avid reader and ferocious Scrabble player.
Sarah is survived by son, Prentiss Gerald McBride of Cranston, daughters, Teresa Roberts, Geraldine McGill, and Brenda McBride, all of Providence, Marlene Gonsalves and Deborah McBride, both of Cranston, 10 grandchildren, 18 great, grandchildren, and 1 great, great, grandchild. She was the sister of the late Charles O. Gill, Mattie
Sue Craig and Charlotte Brown.
