Mother Mary Lester Mitchell

Sis. Carol,
My prayers are with you and your family during your time of bereavement. Mother Mitchell was truly a 'Mother of the Church' who demanded our respect. She was a role model to all who knew her. A host of the Beacon Avenue Church of God members will always remember her and the knowledge she shared with us. Love.

Gramm (aka Mother Mitchell) will be missed. Boy, I can remember when we (me, Missy, Wanda, Tootie, Angell, Brother, Dean, etc)were kids going by her house on Early Street and how she would call us or anyone in her house at that time into Bible study when we wanted to play. LOL I know I used to think "What is she thinking?!" LOL But when you're young, you really don't fully understand God's purpose. I remember how she would be so patient and persistent in teaching even the young about the Lord. I have never forgotten those times at Gramm's house and it has definitely made a difference in my adult years in understanding God's calling. I also remember when we were in church, how she would just "GLIDE" when she was shouting. I used to just wonder in awe! It was like, her feet would be off the ground when she was dancing for the Lord. What a SOLDIER for the Lord! We will miss her....
Krystal Mangum (Atlanta, GA)

Mother, Mother, Mother Mitchell! Her presence and smile truly encouraged me as I was a babe in the Lord during the late eighties. My cousin Krystal and I did look in awe as Mother would dance and Praise the Lord. I can hear her now say, "Thank Ya Jesus". She did fight a Good Fight of Faith in Jesus Name. All of our Love and Prayers
