Floyd Narcisse
December 29, 1946 to December 30, 2009

Floyd Narcisse, 63, of Mohawk Drive, Seekonk, died Tuesday, December 29th, at William W. Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT. He was the husband of Linda (Harris) Narcisse.

Born in New Iberia, LA, he was the son of the late Ceasar Narcisse and Eunice (Cormier) Narcisse of Springfield, MA. He was a resident of the area for 22 years.

Floyd received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at American International College, in Springfield, MA. While at AIC he integrated the music booth, becoming the first black deejay ever at the school. He was also Co-Founder of the MLK Center in Springfield, MA. He later received his degree in Special Education from Providence College. Floyd worked as Special Education Teacher for the Providence School Department. And he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Affectionately known as "Coach", Floyd was the head basketball coach of the Central High School Knights. Prior to that he had coaching stints with American International College, AAU teams in Springfield, MA and Providence, RI, as well as Feinstein High.

Floyd was a member of Allen AME Church where he served as a steward, as well as on the male chorus, senior choir and Sons of Allen.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by son, Rev. Floyd Lindsey Narcisse of Lockport, NY, daughter, Tanisha Narcisse-Branch of Deltona, FL, brothers, Alfred Narcisse of Windsor, CT, Larry Narcisse of Hamden, CT, Ceasar Narcisse of Hartford, CT, Edmond Narcisse and Robert Williams, both of Springfield, MA and Charlie Williams of East Hartford, CT, sisters, Verven Mosley of Virginia Beach, VA and Patricia Pennant of CT, and granddaughter, Saniya Narcisse. He was the brother of the late Leonard Narcisse.

Calling Hours 3-7pm Tuesday, January 5th, at Allen AME Church, 163 Bellevue Avenue, Providence. Funeral 12 Noon Wednesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 475 Cranston Street, Providence. Burial 11am Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield, MA.
