Deaconess Frances Elizabeth (Lockhart) Smith, 77 , of 305 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, died Monday, September 22nd, at Cedarcrest Nursing Center, Cranston. She was the wife of Rev. Charles A. Smith Sr. Born in Montezuma, GA, the daughter of the late John Calvin Lockhart and Emma L. (Sutton) Lockhart. She was a resident of the city for 38 years. She was employed as a claims adjuster for Blue Cross/Blue Shield until retirement in 1991. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Charles A. Smith Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, Michael A. Smith of Kaneohe , HI, Vincent E. Smith of Cranston and Rev. Eric B. Smith of New Haven, CT, two daughters, Cheryl E. Marrow of Cranston and Lois D. Smith of Providence, 14 grandchildren and 12 great, grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Janet L. Smith and sister of the late Johnnie L. Anderson. Funeral 10am Monday, September 29th, at Sheldon Street Church, 51 Sheldon Street, Providence. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
