Doris "Ba-Bay" L. (Washington) Summerour passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 9, 2008 in South Carolina. She was the daughter of Doris J. Washington of Providence and the late Maurice P. Washington and stepdaughter of Robert L. Culbreath.

Doris was a graduate of Rhode Island Junior College (CCRI) with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. She worked at Rhode Island Hospital and several other local hospitals before relocating to South Carolina 20 years ago. She worked at St. Francis Xavier Hospital and Roper Hospital in South Carolina for 20 years before retiring 2 years ago. She was a devoted Jehovah's Witness.

Besides her mother she is survived by a daughter Princess L. Butler of Providence and the late Eric L. Washington, three grandchildren Eric T., Krishon L., and Aquaria L. Butler, all of Providence. She also leaves one brother, Johanne Washington of Providence, 5 sisters, Delores Speaks of Baltimore, MD, Maurine Addison and Judith Covington, both of Warwick, Linda Washington of Brockton, MA, and Jackie Washington of Providence. Doris was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and loving niece of Gladys Whitehead. Many family, friends and her Jehovah Witness family will miss her generocity and "Wit".

Visitation 5-8pm Friday, December 19th, in Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence. Cremation will follow. Memorial Service 12:30pm Saturday at Park View Congregation of Jehovah's Witness, 1340 Elmwood Avenue, Providence. Please omit flowers. Donations to your favorite charity.
