Pastor Helen (Mann) Tate, 74, of Russo Street, Providence, died Monday, March 8 th, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Rocky Mount, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dempsey and Hattie (Collins) Mann. She was a resident of the city for 30 years.
She was founder of St. Pauls Holiness Church where she pastor for 37 years.
She is survived by sons, Robert Whitaker, Stanley Whitaker and Rufus Pittman, all of Providence, daughters, Helen Artis and Linda Whitaker-Green, both of Providence, and Hattie Whitaker of Pawtucket, brothers, Dempsey Mann of Warwick and Campbell Mann of Rocky Mount, NC, sisters, Beatrice Parker of Rocky Mount, NC, Hattie Smith of Suffolk, VA and Stella Lewis of Baltimore, MD, 12 grandchildren and 3 great, grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Constance Whitaker and sister of the late Arron Mann, Katherine Mann and Beaulah Mann.
Funeral 11am Monday, March 15 th , at Refuge Deliverance Tabernacle, 364 Prairie Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in North Burial Ground. Calling Hours 7-9pm Sunday at Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence.
