George Edward Sweet

George Edward Sweet was born on February 9, 1958 to the union of the late Charles and Madeline (Waterman) Sweet. He went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Kent County Hospital. He was the husband of Carleen M. Sweet to whom he was happily married for 34 years.

He was a hard worker and was employed with the New England Pest Control for twenty-nine and a half years.

A beloved native Rhode Islander, George was an avid Providence Bruins and Pawtucket Red Sox fan. He was well-known for his unusual family cookouts, especially during inclement weather. Two of George's great joys in life were watching the tough cop Carroll O'Connor in In the Heat of the Night and playing with his grandson Dominick. He loved music and was a skilled drummer with the Levesque Drum Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Carleen of North Kingstown, daughter, Heather Calci of Narragansett, son, Patrick Sweet of North Kingstown, brothers, Raymond and Robert Sweet, sisters, Barbra Mancini and Carol Sweet of Providence, six grandchildren, Ashley, Sabrina, and Dominick Calci and Andrew, Aaron, and Sabrina Bartholomew. He also leaves fond memories in the hearts of many family members and friends.  George was preceded in death by his brother Charles and his son David Louis Bartholomew, Jr.
