Lourdes Morel, 82, of Corinth Street in Providence died on Sunday, March 17th, at home. Born in the Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Eloina Villalona and Santiago Morel. She was the youngest of eleven children, she was predeceased by seven of her siblings. Lourdes lived in Manhattan, NY for five years until 1967 when she moved to Providence.
Lourdes was the loving wife of Diego Grullon, together they raised three children. Lourdes' memory is cherished by their sons, Jose Morel and his wife Bobbi, Diego Grullon Jr. and his wife Fior, as well as their daughter, Inoska Quezada and her husband Nigel. Lourdes was the beloved grandmother of 14 beautiful children, and great-grandmother to 10. Her family would say she was not only the sweetest woman they knew but the gentlest. Her soft spoken demeanor allowed her children and grandchildren to confide in her whenever they needed her. She was a fantastic cook, her Rice and Beans were known throughout the family as the best recipe.
