Ruby Coleman Obituary

Ruby A (Tyson) Coleman, of Providence, made her heavenly transition on Monday, February 19, 2018 after a brief illness. For 44 years she was the beloved wife of the late Lionel R Coleman. Born in Lynchburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Pearl Tyson and Lucy B (Smith) Gregory. Before retiring Ruby worked 35 years for Homefront Inc. in Providence, RI. Ruby was a life member of Allen A.M.E. Church, Providence.

Ruby was a devoted mother and grandmother who was loved by her entire family and friends. Her great sense of humor, and firm hand of love was felt by everyone who knew her. She was the stern “Aunt Ruby” to all her nieces and nephews. And favorite cousin to many. Ruby’s love for her siblings was immeasurable as she provided care, love and support unconditionally. Her children call her blessed; but she was affectionately known as “ Mummy”, because she demonstrated the importance of hard work, integrity, compassion, and heartfelt kindness to all. She raised her children with a strong foundation of faith and commitment to God.

She is survived by daughters, Donna R Coleman, MA., Mira J Washington, (Marlowe) NY, a son Barrett Coleman (RI). A godson Kyle Bell (RI). She was preceded in death by her sons, Walter S Tyson and Warwick W Tyson. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, Brittany Dow (Willie) MO, Marlowe Washington II NY, Derek S Tyson (Felicia) FL, Holly Caldwell, FL, David Tyson CT, Daryl Pinto, Troy Perry, Dwayne Thibodeau, Donel Prince (Angela)and Michael Dunston all of RI, (17) great grandchildren and (5) great great grandchildren. She leaves two devoted brother-in-laws, Mac C. Qualls Sr. RI, Willie Lee Coleman Sr (Verline) AR; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Qualls, Constance Tyson, Ruth S Hawkins, and brothers William P Tyson, Isaiah Perry.
