Chanel Thomas Obituary

Chanel Monique Thomas was born on Thursday July 3, 1975 at 8:28pm to Lisa Thomas (Wiggins) and Michael Thomas. Chanel was the first child to her parents and the first grandchild to both her mother’s and father’s sides of the family. For seven years, Chanel was the only child, the apple of everyone’s eye, the rightful center of attention, a true little princess and most importantly, her Mother's very first Love.

Chanel’s education began at St. Kevin’s Catholic School in Dorchester MA. Chanel was a bright, engaged and model student all throughout her school years. She was voted Vice President of the Black Student Counsel in high school, and oftentimes participated in other clubs of interest. Chanel subsequently graduated from Brockton High School in 1994 and continued her education at Bay State and Fisher Junior College's.

Chanel entered the work world with ambitions to break through the glass ceiling. She realized her own potential and began to dream, then build, her own business. Chanel has always reached back to support others! She was driven by a deep desire to help people find success. With Chanel’s coaching, many small, community-based nonprofits benefitted from her guidance, vision and knowledge. Chanel was steadfast in the business support she offered her family. Chanel's final job was at a Pharmaceutical Company where she was an Engineering Project Manager.

Chanel was a child of God. She was blessed and always felt that way. Chanel was thankful for God’s grace and mercy on her life. She knew that but not for His everlasting mercies, she would not have made it as far as she had in life. GLORY TO GOD! Chanel was an adamant believer in the saying " to whom much is given much is expected". God had a call on Chanel’s life to serve so she answered. She immersed herself into helping others, especially the vulnerable. Chanel was known for her generosity to The United Way, The Goodwill Industries, veteran homelessness, women & children’s organizations and other charities by donating time and money to their causes.

Chanel was very well traveled, vacationing in Cancun, Jamaica, and Aruba. She also enjoyed the ocean and sea; setting sail regularly by going on annual cruise getaways. This year, Chanel was planning an excursion to Italy and Spain; she was a true adventurer and explorer at heart.

Chanel was not only beautiful and smart; she was talented as well. She had the singing voice of an angel. Chanel frequented many karaoke establishments gifting fellow revelers with the sound of her amazing voice. Chanel's favorite song was " I Want to Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston. In addition to singing, Chanel loved shopping; in stores, on-line, offline, just anywhere! AMAZON was her best connection!!

Chanel was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, godmother, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. Most especially, Chanel was her Mother's Precious Little Lamb. Chanel follows her predeceased grandmothers and grandfathers in death. Chanel is survived by her stepfather and mother, Russell and Lisa Offley, of Woonsocket RI; sister, Jade Thomas of Woonsocket RI; stepsister, Scarletta Williams; stepbrother, Russell Horton; nephews, Evyn Davis and Naseim Thomas of Woonsocket RI; niece, Evelyn Thomas of Woonsocket RI; aunts, Yvette Ingraham of Seabrook NH and Dana Lynette of Dorchester MA; grandmother, Barbara Thomas of Dorchester, MA; godchildren Samantha and Christian Durling; and many loving cousins, aunts, distant relatives and friends.
