Donald Pope

Donald C. Pope Sr., 60, of Providence, passed away peacefully at Elmhurst Nursing Home after several years of battling Stage 4 Thyroid Cancer. Born and raised in Providence, RI to the late Mason (Black) Pope, Donald was one of 13 brothers and sisters. Donald worked at Miracle Car Wash in Cranston, RI for over 20 years. Previously, he was employed at RI Hospital.

Donald's legacy is to be remembered and cherished by his wife Barbara A. Pope; sons Donald Pope Jr. and Mark Pope, both of Providence; daughter Bridget Pope, of Providence, as well as his granddaughters Jayliannie, Jadielynn, Jannelle and Sophia Pope; his grandsons Danye’ and Jayceon Pope, all of Providence. He is also survived by his sisters Gloria Snell-Bailey, Movena and Marcella Pope and Wendy Burrell; brothers Vince Pope Jr., Riley Pope, Joseph Correia, Linwood Jones and Daniel Jones; sister-in-laws Patricia Neely Reaves, Valerie Pope, Nancy Pope, Michelle Jones, and Ruby Jones; a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Lillie Black, in-laws Willie and Ellen Neely, his brothers Howard and Walter Pope, as well as a sister, Modena Graham.

Donald was not just a beloved husband, father and brother... he was a well known and respected man whose heart knew no boundaries. He was a proud man, he loved his children with all of his heart and would fight to the ends of the Earth to provide for them. Not only was he a kind man, but he was a Providence staple, if you knew Donald, you were lucky because there was always an extra place for you, should you ever have needed it. He was not just loved by his children, but as well as his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and those whom were lucky enough to call Donald a friend.

Donald was loved, cherished and will be missed dearly.
