Obituary

Edward M. Bassette III… Known as “Butch” “Edday”, 63, of North Kingston, died Monday, July 13th, at Miriam Hospital.

He was the son of the Late Edward M. Bassette Jr. His survivors are; his fiancé, Jeannine Jorgensen, his mother. Elizabeth B. Bassette of Cranston, he also leaves a brother, Merle Martin Bassette, and sister in-law, Karen H. Bassette of Providence, a sister Elizabeth “Beth” Bassette of Florida, two nieces Jada Elizabeth Bassette of Providence and Alexandria Dominque Dumas of Florida.  He also leaves Aunts, Uncles and cousins along with many friends.

He followed in his father’s footsteps by coaching the West Elmwood Intruders football team for many years,

His love for music was intoxicating; the first instrument he played were the drums and boy did it drive us crazy, then he started with the guitar, then the bass guitar and that is where it took off, he was self-taught. From there he went to play in a few groups… Ecstasy, Blox, Spellbound, Superbad, , Southside, D.O.I, Coolbeans, and Coastline.

He will be greatly missed by all

Rest in Peace my dear brother.

God saw that he was getting tired and a cure was not to be.  So, he put his arms around him and whispered “Come with me”

With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.

A golden heart stopped beating; a determined spirit was laid to rest.  God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.
