Ethel Threats Obituary

Mother Ethel Ruth Ann Threats, known as “Aunt Ruth” to many and also known as “City Hall” by her brother the late uncle Bill, age 75 was born in Seaford, Delaware on September 25,1944, to the late Grover C. Robinson Sr. and Sophie (Palmer) Robinson, of Seaford, Delaware. She was one of eighteen children. The righteous principles instilled in this women of God while she was young, led her to faithfully commit her life to Christ at a young age. She was a humble and God fearing women that never complained or got angry, she would give you her last if you needed it. Mother Ruth had a lot of wisdom. She was a person who reached out to those in need. If you needed a place to stay, something to eat or needed a babysitter, she had your back no questions asked. She loved a cared for everyone. She was a loving and nurturing person.

Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. She had many talents, she was a cosmetologist, a factory worker, a homemaker, and a singer. Also she was apart of PACE organization, a day program for the elderly. While at PACE she made some amazing friends and they couldn’t wait for her to come in on a daily basis. The director of the program stated that she was a person that welcomed us with her sweet spirit, she will be greatly missed. Ruth also was able to be a part of the Hasboro Children’s Hospital program where she made blankets for children. PACE was in awe that Ruth was so willing to participate in this non profit organization that they honored her and award her with a certificate of appreciation. She was an expert when it came to taking care of children, an anointed singer who inspired us all. She sang with her brother the late Rev. “Bill” Robinson and the Robinson singers for many years. She also sang with the Mt. Calvary church choir under the leadership of her sister the late Rev.Goldie L.(Robinson) Ricketts. Some of her favorite pass time were knitting, putting a five hundred piece puzzle together, crocheting, crossword puzzles, making jewlery, singing and most of all caring for children. She loved children so much that she became a foster parent of twelve children. Through the friendship of her brother the late Rev. William (Bill) Robinson mother Ruth met Bishop Thomas L. Threats Sr. Bishop Threats testified that God will be sending him a wife after his first wife died in 1960. Ruth and Thomas were united in holy matrimony in 1964. God did a new thing in this union. They had a strong foundation, love was shared not only with precious children but with children who without them would not know the meaning of family, love or God. Mother Ruth and Bishop Thomas had a successful marriage for forty-three years. She lived in Staten Island, NY for many years before relocating to Providence,RI to help her sister the late Goldie L. (Robinson) Ricketts with her church.

Ruth attended House of Manna Ministries under the leadership of her nephew Apostle Robert Robinson where she became the church mother. She departed this life into eternal rest surrounded by her family on January 20, 2020.

She leaves to mourn three children Rev. Deborah Mourning (Bowie, MD) Bristol Threats (Providence, RI), Isaiah Threats (Louisville, KY), special niece Leslee Wilcox (Stanley) Providence, RI, and great great nephew Jowell Robinson (Providence, RI), whom she raised. Seventeen grandchildren Thomas Threats lll, Issac Threats, Sonya, Phillip, LaSondra, Shevan, Derek, George and Tenika Mourning, Bristion, Stanisha, Saniea, Lanaa’, Daunte, Tyree, Laylah, and Elijah Wilcox and fourteen great grandchildren. God daughters Deborah Brown, and Felicia Robinson. Brother in-law Jessie James Threats (Francis) Gastonia, NC, Four sister in-laws Mae Francis Allen (Pawtucket, RI), Jae Ruth Robinson (Providence, RI), Barbara Jean (Newport, Delaware), Pastor Shirley Robinson (Providence, RI), Ann Robinson (Brockton, MA), Three sisters; Ethea Mae Patton(Salisbury, MD), Charlene Swepson(Pawtucket, RI), Matilda “Mickey” Gaines(Suitland, MD), one brother Arnold “Ted” Robinson(Kassie) Griddletree, MD. She also leaves a host of cousins,nieces and nephews. Presiding her in death is her husband Bishop Thomas Threats Sr.,her son Thomas Threats Jr., her daughter Nancy Threats Johnson, brothers Rev. Harold Robinson, Rev. Robert Robinson Sr., Apostle Alfonso Robinson, Rev. William “Bill” Robinson, Floyd Robinson, Grover Robinson Jr., sisters Rev. Goldie Robinson Ricketts and Christine Robinson Brown.
