Gertrude Marcella (Murphy) Sanders

GERTRUDE MARCELLA (MURPHY) SANDERS, 88, of Providence, died Thursday, January 14th, at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of the late James Lewis Sanders for 43 years. Born in Newport, she was a daughter of the late Augustus and Gertrude Murphy.

She is survived by her daughters; Juanita Lewis of Land O’ Lakes, FL; Linda Morro of East Providence, and Lisa Sanders of Newport, and sons; Shelton Sanders of Charlotte, NC, Michael Sanders of Newport, Larry Sanders of Woonsocket, Raymond Sanders of Cranston, Alan Sanders of Newport, and Lamont Sanders of Schenectady, New York; beloved cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late James Sanders and Robert Sanders.

Services 10am Tuesday, January 19th, in Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence; Viewing begins at 9am. Interment at Newport Memorial Park Cemetery, 123 Howland Avenue, Middletown. Reception following at the Taunton Avenue Apartments - Community Room, 20 Whelden Avenue, East Providence.
