Obituary
Maria DoCarmo Gonçalves DaMoura “Kaka” unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her home on August 24, 2022.
Maria was born in Cape Verde Islands and emigrated to United States at age 13 with her mother and siblings. She attended Hope High School in providence and earned a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Rhode Island in 1989. Maria’s compassion and empathy shined through her work as an ICU nurse where she served proudly in Washington DC, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She held deep commitments to family and expressed her love generously with affirming words, meaningful experiences and thoughtful gifts. She was most proud of raising her son Malik into a young gentleman. Maria’s joyful spirit and nurturing soul will be missed by many.
Maria is survived by her mother Alice Gonçalves, son Malik DaMoura and siblings Luis Lopes, Maria R. DaSilva, Ana Lopes Tavares, Ernestina DaMoura- Moreira, Nelida DaMoura, Jose DaMoura, Sandra DaMoura and Maria DosSantos DaMoura. In death she is preceded by her siblings Joaquim Lopes DaSilva, Antonio Lopes DaMoura and Nelson Jorge DaMoura.
