Michael Douglas Washington, 66, was born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 29, 1955. Michael died Thursday, September 1st, at Rhode Island Hospital; he was the son of the late George H. Washington Sr. and Naomi (Spence) Washington, and was the stepson of the late Louis M. Smith.
Michael worked at electric boat for over 10 years; he was a handyman and anytime his family or friends needed him Michael was there, it didn’t matter what time it was if he could get to you, he was there —Michael loved teaching you how to do whatever job he was doing. If you were standing there he was teaching you. Michael loved old school music, having his yard sales every day. When Michael wasn’t working, he was always selling something. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend to everyone. To know Michael is to know he always had a contagious smile and was ready to tell a joke at a drop of a hat.
Michael is survived by his children Michael Washington, Ginnelle Marie Washington, and Helen M. Washington, and step-children Niecy Robinson, Roneisha Amos, Janey Amos, Ross Amos, and Chanel Amos. Siblings George H. Washington Jr., Paulette M. Littlejohn, David A. Washington, Julie Correia-Goode, Naomi Correia, and William Correia; and his three grandchildren.
