Ned Samuel Gray, 66, of Smith Street, Cranston, died Tuesday, January 29th, at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Doreen (Amado) Gray.
Born in Great Neck, NY, he was the son of the late Ned Gray and Carrie (Harris) Gray. He was a resident of Providence and Cranston. In 1978, Ned joined what is now known as Local 51 Pipe Fitters & Plumbers Union; he joined during a significant time in Rhode Island, as per a U.S. Supreme Court ruling which outlawed racial quotas as part of Affirmative Action in the state. He also coached for the West Elmwood Intruders.
Besides his wife, he is survived by daughter, Jessica Gray, son, Tobias Gray, stepdaughters, Christina Lawson and Rhondal Lawson, all of Providence, brother, Leroy [Lynette] Gray of Far Rock Away, NY, sisters, Maggie (Gray) Hudson and Susie (Gray) Handfield, both of Long Island, NY, 13 grandchildren and 9 great, grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Henry Gray, John Gray, and Jerry Gray.
