Raygene Bowie Obituary

Raygene Bowie, 65, of Pawtucket, died at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Teal M. Sylvia. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Ruby P. Bowie and Wendell P. Chase Sr.

Ray retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in CT, after many years. His love of cooking consumed him blessing him with a desire to continue his education, he went on to graduate from Amos House and became a chef. He was an United States Air Force Sergeant, including a tour of duty in Thailand. Ray was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. With his great sense of humor he enjoyed laughter and a good joke. Raygene was a lover of music of all kinds. He was a DJ for many years and was nice on the vocals himself. He was a member of Hood Shaw Memorial AME Zion Church. It was there that he was baptized giving his life to the Lord. 

Ray is survived by children, Raygina Bowie and Ikiai Johnston, both of Providence, Jentani Su of Thailand, Marquis Bowie of Hartford, CT, Cedric Sylvia of Pawtucket and Zachary Sylvia of Warwick, siblings, Gregory Bowie, Bernard Bowie, and Ronald Chase, all of Philadelphia, PA, Alicia Bowie of Smyrna, GA, Anthony Bowie of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Wilson of Providence, Douglas Chase of Cranston, Evelyn Chase of South Kingstown, and Mary Chase of North Providence; 8 grandchildren, Geneva Harold, Quincy Harold, Cedric Sylvia Jr., Iyanna Sylvia, all of Providence,  Marquis Bowie, Lychen Bowie, Precious Bowie and Unique  Bowie, all of Hartford, and 6 great, grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Philip Chase Sr., Wendell P. Chase Jr., Bruce E. Chase, Doreen M. Dowd and Yvette R. Bowie-Gaul.
