Rhonda Chisman Brown Obituary

Rhonda Ann Chisman Brown, 65, departed this life on April 30, 2020, in Providence, Rhode Island, after an extended illness. Rhonda was born December 21, 1954, in Hampton, Virginia, to John Nathaniel Chisman Sr. and the late Ann Coleman Chisman. She was the oldest of five children and the first grandchild of the late John & Rachel Coleman and the late Arlington & Mamie Chisman. Rhonda attended local schools in Hampton, VA, and later attended Hope High School and Johnson & Wales Culinary School.

Rhonda was the proud mother of 3 children. A daughter, Tracy Chisman-Metts, two sons Kevin Chisman and LeVelle Chisman. In 2003 Rhonda married the late Wilbur Brown. Rhonda loved her family, her friends, and she loved to cook. She was always willing to give- even to strangers. She was a strong woman who displayed great resiliency.

She was loved unconditionally and will be missed more than any of us can imagine. Left to cherish Rhonda’s memory is her daughter, Tracy Chisman-Metts (Harold) of Lawrenceville, GA, sons Kevin Chisman (Kana) of Providence, RI, and LeVelle Chisman (TIffany) of Manville, RI; father John Nathaniel Chisman Sr. of Hampton VA, brother John Chisman Jr. (Juanita) of Norfolk, VA, sisters Crystal Chisman Parson (Rufus) of West Palm Beach, FL, and Kim Chisman Pina of Riverside, RI; brother Keith Chisman (Darlene) of Hampton, VA. Rhonda is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Also left to mourn her passing is her devoted friend and companion Charles Westport. With special thanks to Kevin Vines for being a strong support system, to Laurie Duart for going above and beyond her normal duties and to the dialysis center of East Providence, RI, for their services.

We hated to see you suffer, yet it was so hard to let you go. We know that you're not suffering anymore and in this we find peace. Rhonda, rest in peace. You're gone but never forgotten. We loved you but God loved you best.
