Michael Ryan Washor, a highly talented musician and computer engineer, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 9th at his home in Westerly.
Michael is survived by his mother, Jill (Diehl) Letourneau of Westerly, his father, Elliot Washor of San Diego CA, his brother, Nathan Washor of Coventry, his niece, Julia Washor of Ashaway, and his step mother, Darlene Devaney of San Diego, CA.
Michael was born on July 30, 1984 in Peterborough, NH, to Jill Letourneau and Elliot Washor. He graduated from the Met School in Providence in 2002 and studied guitar and computer networking under his mentor Lou Xifaris. Michael attended Wheaton College and URI and he worked as a computer engineer for many years for Family Services of RI, Net Cenergy, and Progeny Systems Corporation among others.
Michael was an extremely talented guitar player who recorded music as a studio musician in California and had the opportunity to play with many big names in the industry. He was a loving and kind spirit who always thought of others before himself. He was a uniter of people and will be deeply missed by many.
Calling hours will be at Bright Funeral Home, 290 Public Street, Providence, on Thursday, January 12th, from 6-8 pm. An additional viewing will be held Friday morning at Bright Funeral Home 9:30-10:30 am.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will take place on Friday at 11am followed by lunch in the Arts and Media Center at the Met School, 325 Public Street, Providence, RI. At 2:30 pm there will be a funeral procession to Swan Point Cemetery for the interment.
